The day after the Comet hit, the thousands of years of "progress" that had covered the treacheries and weaknesses of ordinary people with a thin veneer of civilization were dissolved and melted like snow on the desert's dusty face. No one knows just how far backwards humanity fell that day. For a few, for the lucky, it was just centuries. For the rest, it was millennia.
Civilization is a luxury now, and a costly one. Only a few places have been able to maintain it. Welcome to one such enclave.
